Privacy Notice Love Island star Laura Anderson has revealed that her ex, former Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy, told her that he had ‘Gary’s gift’ after she fell pregnant with his fifth child in 2023. Laura, who is the new host of Capital Breakfast on Capital Scotland Radio, met Gary on the 2022 series of Celebs Go Dating. A year after they met, she announced that she was pregnant, but soon after revealed the couple were no longer together. Laura spoke to Giovanna Fletcher on the podcast Happy Mum Happy Baby and revealed that their baby was planned. “It was planned, but it was the first month [I fell pregnant],” she said. “I remember telling him and he’s like, ‘I told you.’ He calls it ‘Gary’s gift.’ And I was like, ‘oh my God. Thanks, Gary, for your gift.’” Gary, meanwhile, told OK! back in May that he called himself the “daddy man.” He said: “I have five babies. I’m the daddy man! My oldest is 18 and my youngest is eight months. It’s so amazing.”

The couple now share 12 month old daughter Bonnie, and during the podcast Laura talked about how she and Gary got together during Celebs Go Dating. “He definitely is a charmer, you know. And we probably fell more in love after the show, you know, not on camera because it’s always a bit different. But yeah, I was just head over heels. And then, he already had four children. He was always talking about how he’d love to have more. And I was like, yeah. And we tried and then it happened.” Fans were surprised when Gary announced on 17 February 2023 that he and Laura were no longer together, especially as it came just one day after she had announced her pregnancy. On Giovanna’s podcast, Laura said Gary’s announcement was “not my choice.”

But again, I sort of hoped that it wasn’t going to be that way,” she said. “I think there’s a difference between when it’s a private thing and then when it’s made public. But, you know, we were supposed to announce on this day, and then I did. He didn’t. And then he told everyone we weren’t together.” Laura has said that she is now solo-parenting Bonnie. “And I’m doing my best, I’m kind of being mum and dad, and I’m sure it is more than enough. You know, everyone’s like, you’re enough, you’re enough, and I know that. But I hope in the future she can see her dad more; he would want to be more involved. It has been quite difficult.” Recently, Gary posted a video of himself with his daughter Bonnie entitled The Little Things.
