Privacy NoticePrince Harry was known for his cheeky antics as a child, whether it was sticking his tongue out at the press or covering his cousin’s mouth on the Buckingham Palace balcony. Growing up between Kensington Palace and Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, Prince Harry had plenty of places to explore, leading to some truly hilarious stories. One such story that stands out is when young Harry managed to escape from Kensington Palace and made his way to Kensington High Street before being found. This incredible tale of Prince Harry’s daring escape was shared by the family’s former protection officer, Ken Wharfe.

Wharfe, who used to be part of SO14, revealed that Harry would often approach him dressed in military fatigues, asking for missions, reports MyLondon. He described how he gave the young prince a two-way radio and set him a task, which Harry took quite literally, much like any adventurous youngster would. Without informing anyone, Harry decided to escape from Kensington Palace to Kensington High Street. Upon completing his self-set mission, he used the radio to inform Wharfe, saying “mission accomplished.” Wharfe recalled how he rushed to find the mischievous young royal, stating that his feet “didn’t touch the ground” once he realised where Harry was.

Prince William has shared a heartwarming yet hilarious memory of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and her playful sense of humour. Recalling an interview for the 20th anniversary of Diana’s passing, he revealed: “Just outside this room where we are now, she organised, when I came home from school to have Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell waiting at the top of the stairs.” He admitted as a young teen with posters of the supermodels on his wall, he was overwhelmed: “I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall.”

The encounter left him blushing: “And I went bright red and didn’t know quite what to say and sort of fumbled and I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up.” William described the experience as unforgettable: “I was completely and utterly sort of awestruck.” He fondly remembered the prank as a testament to Diana’s love and sense of fun: “That was a very funny memory that’s lived with me forever about her, loving and embarrassing and being the sort of joker.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
