Privacy NoticeQueen Camilla is marking her 77th birthday today (Wednesday, 17 July) with a thoughtful gift from her husband King Charles, a former royal butler has revealed. Celebrations are also expected to take place at their former Highgrove residence among friends along with a ‘private’ family lunch. The Royal Family are known to celebrate their birthdays privately and tend to keep any plans under wraps. While a social media tribute is often shared on any royal birthday, fans have often been left wondering what they get up to on their birthdays and what presents they gift each other. As Camilla turns 77, former royal butler, Grant Harrold has revealed the type of gift the Queen could receive from her husband. Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Grant said: “With birthdays I don’t ever remember there being anything kind of fun or silly like they do at Christmas.

“Normally Charles would get Camilla a piece of jewellery or maybe something for her gardens.” He added: “Just like the rest of us, it’s something normal. That’s the thing they are so normal and I keep saying you know that they’re royal in name and by nature and everything they do but behind closed doors they’re just like you and me.” The former royal butler went on to share details of Camilla’s special day and recalled what her 70th birthday looked like. He said: “Birthdays are celebrated very much in private. “The King normally does something for her, historically it’s always been said that they normally have a small gathering in a Highgrove with a few friends, but it’s never a big occasion.

“The last time it was a big occasion was her 70th. I wasn’t there but I remember the party because I could hear the party from my house. But normal birthdays are very private, I always remember her birthday being the climax of summer at Highgrove before the royals head off to Scotland.” With a busy schedule among members of the Royal Family, the expert said it is ‘difficult’ to have everyone together to mark the occasion. However, it looks as though Camilla could be joined by her two older children, Tom and Laura, for a tasty lunch.

Grant explained: “They will probably do something with her family. I imagine her kids Tom and Laura will want to see her, they might all get together and maybe go out for lunch. But there will likely be something behind closed doors because I think when you become Queen it’s a little bit more tricky to go to a pub. Tom is a chef so he might even cook something for the family.” He continued: “Camilla and Charles will do something but in terms of gathering the Royal Family it’s difficult because it’s such a big family they’re all doing things and commitments so it’s not always guaranteed.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
