Privacy NoticeEmmerdale actor Sam Hall has announced he’s officially left the ITV soap after his character was jailed in scenes that aired earlier this week. Sam’s character, Samson Dingle, has been written out of the soap and sentenced to four years in prison. Sam confirmed his character will be behind bars and would not be killed-off despite recent claims. In a video on social media, Sam explained: “So, as you’ve seen, Samson has now left the village. It’s been a great storyline so I’d like to thank everyone who’s been with me – cast and crew – over the last 15 years. “Hopefully, we see Samson again”.

Actor Sam first joined the soap at the age of five and has been in the show ever since. Samson proved to be a fan-favourite as a child, but as he grew up, fans witnessed a less favourable streak in him. Samson had a baby storyline with Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) that left fans unhappy with his behaviour as he continued to dismiss his daughter, Esther. Earlier this year, Sam, 20, was tipped to be killed-off the soap which he said wasn’t true – but now it seems he has left for good.

Sam Hall has appeared in Emmerdale since he was five years old

In his final storyline, Samson was involved in a plot where he was accidentally stabbed by Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano). Samson later lied about the incident, leaving out to the police how Matty was being bullied over being a trans man by Samson’s new pal Josh (Osian Morgan) – leaving Matty in prison. In more recent episodes, Samson came to his senses about his wrongdoings, but his eagerness to get Josh to confess for his involvement in the stabbing caused him to lose his temper, resulting in Samson attacking Josh off-screen during Monday’s trip to the Dales (5 August). Samson was arrested, exposed by an anonymous tip, and was escorted out of The Woolpack in explosive scenes. Samson’s former friend Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) was confirmed to have called the police on him.

Emmerdale’s Samson will spend four years in jail

Not all viewers were happy about Samson’s exit on Tuesday (6 August) with one fan posting on X: “Personally don’t think he deserved to have his character ruined these past couple years and felt like he deserved a better send off.” Another said: “That is a terrible exit for Samson,” as a third wrote: “What a huge mistake Emmerdale has made getting rid of Samson.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
