Comparing it to other shows, another commented: “I enjoyed the first season a lot more than I thought I would. I think I prefer this to The Night Agent.” A fifth Netflix subscriber, relieved about the renewal, said: “Whew! This is a solid Netflix show, I thought it got canned.” And a sixth chimed in, adding joyously: “Thank God. I really liked this show, which is always really risky when it comes to Netflix.” Introduced to viewers in April 2023, The Diplomat quickly secured a space in people’s watchlists, and just a month later, news of its renewal for a second season broke out.
