Privacy NoticeIn her final months, Queen Elizabeth II was so frail she could “barely lift a teapot” and would become distressed when she spilled its contents, insiders have revealed. The much-loved monarch passed away on 8 September 2022, causing heartbreak across the UK and around the world as it marked the beginning of King Charles’ reign. The nation was taken aback when a photograph of the fragile Queen was released during her meeting with then Prime Minister Liz Truss, just days before her death. Now, insiders have given further insight into her last days at Balmoral in Scotland, before her health deteriorated rapidly, prompting her family to rush to be by her side one final time.

A source told MailOnline: “Her Majesty could hardly see and just didn’t have the strength. She would get terribly frustrated as she hated causing a mess, pouring it over the tray. She asked for a smaller pot and would get frustrated when the staff forgot and brought the big one.” The Queen passed away just two days after performing her final duty, saying goodbye to Boris Johnson and welcoming Liz Truss as the new Prime Minister in the traditional ‘kissing of the hands’ ceremony.

Following her death, her official death certificate was released to the public, revealing that she died of old age with no other contributing factors, reports the Mirror. Earlier this year, an insider revealed what transpired in the Queen’s final moments. Senior staff members documented the events leading up to and following the Royal Family figurehead’s passing. A memo penned by her private secretary, Sir Edward Young, confirmed that the Queen had “slipped away” peacefully at Balmoral, unaware and pain-free.

This note is included in an upcoming biography titled Charles III: New King, New Court. The Inside Story. This new biography about King Charles alleges that when a footman opened a red box of paperwork on the Queen’s deathbed, two letters were discovered. One letter was penned for King Charles and the other for Sir Edward, with their contents expected to remain a royal secret. Robert Hardman, the author of the biography, revealed: “Even on her deathbed, there had been work to do. And she had done it.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
