Emmerdale viewers were gripped after a heart-stopping cliffhanger left them desperate to learn which soap stalwarts might not make it. Monday’s episode saw Suzy Merton meet her demise in a tragic limo incident, followed by the harrowing discovery of an unidentified body in the lake. Later, fans were told that four beloved characters are battling for survival en route to the hospital. The tension became unbearable when the latest installment concluded with the bleak announcement that one from the quartet was declared dead. The fated four, Leyla Harding, Liam Cavanagh, Noah Dingle and Amy Wyatt, are at the centre of much speculation as fans fiercely guess who might bid farewell to the Dales. Roxy Shahidi, Emmerdale’s Leyla since 2008, has in the past divulged her fantasy exit – and six feet under wasn’t her cup of tea.

In pursuit of the perfect goodbye, she mentioned: “100% taxi! If you get in a taxi, you can always come back in a taxi. You go in taxi, you come back in a taxi. So, you want the taxi really because it leaves that door fluid.” As for the idea of being written off in a tragic accident, she relayed her thoughts on Steph’s Packed Lunch in 2023, insisting: “You don’t want to die; it’d be too sad to die. You’ve known that character for years and years and years and you’ve invested so much. I couldn’t do it, I’d weep.”

Leyla’s recent ambulance crisis isn’t her first dance with danger in the village – she’s already battled through a dangerous ordeal, having been attacked and held hostage by the menacing drug dealer Callum. And fans are left speculating if tonight marks Leyla’s last hurrah or if the fate of other characters is sealed instead. One anxious viewer speculated on social media: “I think it’s Liam that doesn’t make it. Tonight’s episode shows some of them getting taken to hospital, the spoilers online show the person dead has a head support brace on. The only one that has that as they enter the ambulance is Liam.” Echoing this concern, another chimed in: “Liam as the person was laid flat Leyla was raised up a bit.”
