Privacy NoticeIt’s been a devastating week for the Dingles on Emmerdale after the farming family learnt that patriarch Zac Dingle (Steve Halliwell) had passed away – and fans can expect a surprising new character to make their entrance at his funeral. Jeff Hordley, who is best known for playing Cain Dingle on the ITV soap, has revealed that his ‘good friend’ will be making their Emmerdale debut in a shocking entrance. Speaking about the death of Zac Dingle, Lorraine said whilst chatting to Jeff during Wednesday 16th October’s show: “We don’t want to give too much away but we shall say that there’s someone who turns up at the funeral quite unexpectedly and I think they’ll be quite surprised by that but we don’t want to give too much away.”
Jeff Hordley has revealed that his ‘good friend’ is joining the Emmerdale cast ahead of Zac Dingle’s funeral
Jeff added: “I can tell you that she’s a good friend of some of us in the cast, Zoe Henry has worked with her on stage, William [Ash] and I have done a play with her. So it was really great to welcome this character to the show. She is very very good indeed.” Zac’s passing follows the death of actor Steve Halliwell in December last year. The long-time soap star passed away aged 77 after a period of illness, with his family announcing that he “went to sleep, peacefully with his loved ones around him”. With Zac’s funeral scenes airing in the coming weeks, fans are convinced that we’ll see the return of Debbie – played by Charley Webb – after she left the soap in 2021. Fans are also speculating that Zak’s ex-wife Nellie Dingle (Sandra Gough) could make an appearance, returning to the soap after 24 years away from our screens. One viewer posted: “Nellie Dingle looms.” Another chimed in: “Now Cain and Belle are both left with no parents. But Sam’s mum is still alive, so what if Nellie Dingle is who is returning?”

Emmerdale fans were left outraged last week after the popular soap was pulled from the ITV schedules to make way for coverage of the UEFA Nations League. The match between Italy and Belgium at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome kicked off at 7pm on Thursday – taking over Emmerdale’s usual daily slot. The schedule change left viewers ‘screaming in frustration’ as they patiently waited for Tom King’s abuse towards Belle Dingle to be exposed. The ‘so close yet so far’ storyline seemed to enrage viewers on X, formerly known as Twitter, as they took to the site to rant.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
