Many were convinced that the body belonged to Nate, pointing out a bracelet that resembled those crafted by Tracy and Nate’s daughter Frankie. Additionally, his distinctive tattoo sleeve was a giveaway for many viewers. Nate exited the soap in September, but his departure was never depicted on screen. His exit followed a brutal beating from Cain after Caleb falsely accused Nate of having an affair with Moira, reports the Mirror. Since then, Nate has been MIA, leading fans to believe he’s met a grim fate. Now, Jeff, who portrays Nate’s on-screen father, has broken his silence on the mystery surrounding the body. During an interview on This Morning, hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary couldn’t resist probing the actor, although he remained tight-lipped.

Fans think it was Nate’s body in the lake

With a twinkle in his eye and a chuckle, he responded to Alison, “Well I can’t tell you that Alison,” before playfully hinting, “But somebody else is under there. It could be – I don’t know who it could be,” Dermot couldn’t help but join in with an excited, “It could be anyone!” Jeff then chimed in with laughter, “It could be a postman we’ve never seen!” Is Jeff remaining coy because his onscreen son is the mystery corpse? In other snippets of the chat, Jeff delved into his remarkable 25-year journey on the ITV classic, reminiscing about his initial plans when he joined: “It is a long time,” he mused. “I remember joining many years and saying ‘I’m doing two years’. Two years then turned into six and then I left for a bit and then came back.” He expressed his pride, saying: “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’m really proud to still be here, to be honest with all these characters going!” On another note, the soap icon admitted to The Sun his concerns about longevity in the high-stakes world of serial drama: “I’m worried all the time! Not all the time, that’s a little bit over the top.” He confided his feelings further, “Every time there’s news of this it can unsettle us as a cast because we know the shelf life of characters is not forever in soaps, and it’s down to the producers or the writers to steer the ship and take us in the direction they want to take us.”
