Privacy NoticeEmmerdale has explored the bond between Liam Cavanagh and Ella Forster drawing them closer amid shared grief. Ella (Paula Lane) was blindsided with agony earlier this week upon receiving the devastating news of her baby’s demise. Initially, she had been hesitant to have dad-to-be Liam (Jonny McPherson) with her during a key ultrasound. However, fate intervened and threw the pair together when travel troubles meant Liam was at Ella’s side during the critical hospital visit. Tension soared when the sonographer couldn’t find the baby on the scan, prompting an outraged Liam to accuse Ella of faking her pregnancy. “Ella, you’re not pregnant and you never were,” he blasted furiously. “That’s why you didn’t want me to tag along. It makes perfect sense now.”

Back in the village with tempers flaring, Liam was clueless that Ella’s pregnancy had been genuine all along. The harsh truth emerged only after Ella’s chat with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) – she’d suffered a silent miscarriage, a cruel twist of nature known as a blighted ovum or anembryonic pregnancy, leaving Liam awash with remorse and self-blame. Liam, seeking a shoulder to lean on, poured his heart out to Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), admitting he felt “ashamed” of how he’d treated Ella and recognised his own shortcomings.

Later on, Liam bumped into Ella in the village. The GP asked her to hang out, confessing he didn’t want to be on his own after their heartbreaking miscarriage. As they spent time together, Ella blamed herself for the miscarriage, haunted by her past when she accidentally killed another child at just 11 years old.
