Privacy NoticeEmmerdale fans can expect to see a familiar face return to the ITV soap – just months after quitting their long-running role. Emmerdale’s Rebecca Bakes, who is best known for playing Angelica King on the ITV soap, has revealed that she will be returning to her role in just a few months time despite leaving the show in March. The actress will be back in September, with filming yet to start. Speaking to The Sun about when she was set to begin filming, Rebecca said: “It should be at the end of September, so in a few months maybe! I don’t really know because we haven’t started filming anything yet.”
Rebecca Bakes left the role of Angelica King earlier this year, when the character was handed a custodial sentence for the death of Heath Hope

Rebecca last appeared on our screens as Angelica was handed a custodial sentence for killing her friend Heath Hope during a joy ride over the New Year. She was charged with his death and pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and aggravated vehicle taking. The judge told her during her trial: “However taking into account your guilty plea, the pre-sentencing report and statements provided by friends and family, therefore that sentence is considerably shorter than it would have been. Angelica, you are sentenced to eight months detention at a secure children’s home.” When asked whether her jail time will have changed Angelica, Rebecca said: “I don’t know, it could go in the direction of her being a rebel or going a bit downhill but I don’t really know yet!” Rebecca has played the role of Angelica King since 2009, taking over from Sophie Firth – who tragically died aged three after her dress caught on fire in December 2012.

Meanwhile, Sam Hall – who plays Samson Dingle on the soap – recently hinted at the upcoming exit for his character, who was told to “get away” from the village by his dad after his lies landed Matty in prison. “[There’s] the emotional side of dealing with the fact that for a couple of years, he won’t be seeing his dad or his step-mum who is like his real mum, and that has an effect on him,” he said. Sam isn’t the only star who’ll be leaving the soap – Emma Atkins, who stars as Charity Dingle, recently teased that she would be taking a break from the ITV show. She candidly shared her thoughts, saying: “I might take a year out at some point in the future – do some travelling, do some other jobs – but at the moment, I’m here to stay.” Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
