Oliver Farnworth’s entrance as John has been interesting to say the least. He first grabbed attention during his August 2024 debut with a scandalous affair with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) – a nod to Aaron’s stormy past with ex Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley). And the plot has been thickening with whispers about John not being related to Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) beginning to circulate. The curiosity about John’s identity intensified when Victoria uncovered dog tags bearing the name ‘Aiden Moore’. When Victoria confronted her brother, John told a very tragic story – but not everyone believes him.

Now with the name ‘Aidan’ capturing imaginations and setting minds spinning, fans are piecing together theories about his link to Victoria. Some think that John could actually be ‘Aidan’ and that he has assumed John’s identity to cover up a past tragedy, reports the Manchester Evening News. One Emmerdale fan expressed doubts on X, as they said: “John needs to admit he’s not really a Sugden, because even if he is one, why would you want to be related to Victoria”. Someone else threw their theory into the ring: “So fake John is he going to contact real John at some point or visit his grave?” Another viewer cast suspicion and said: “I don’t think John is a Sugden”, as another speculated: “Are the tags his or his ex-partners and he’s pretending to be John Sugden?”. Meanwhile, a sceptical viewer cast doubt on John’s tale, saying: “Wouldn’t all of John’s stuff have been virtually destroyed when his van was submerged in the river – all looks in remarkably fine fettle considering.”
