Privacy NoticeEmmerdale fans had their hearts in their mouths during Wednesday night’s episode (July 24) as they saw what really happened during the couple’s time in Wales with a special flashback episode, and they’ve praised one unlikely hero. It came after viewers saw Charity and Cain Dingle saw blood on the walls in the trashed cottage just days earlier. Hard hitting scenes saw Tom manipulate Belle throughout the episode and even abuse the dog, Piper. Tom then threw another curveball as he went for a job interview, telling Belle he’d accepted the job in Wales. Belle told her husband she wasn’t willing to move from the village, with her husband then violently beating her. Tom even began making death threats, and in intense scenes, Belle managed to run and escape with Piper the next morning, while her husband was showering.

However, it wasn’t all over yet, as Tom could be seen coming up fast behind her, after trashing the house in frustration and climbing out the window in attempts to catch Belle. With only change in hand, she ran onto the bus, before screaming at the driver to wait. She then told her it was an all day route, and she could go as far as she likes before the door shut and Belle and Piper got their lucky escape. It looks like fans now have a favourite character on the soap, the driver. “That bus driver knew what was going on!! Well done to her,” wrote one fan. Another exclaimed: “WE STAN THE BUS DRIVER QUEEN. MISS GIRL SAVED BELLE AND PIPER!”

A third fan, on the edge of their seat commented: “anyone else stop breathing for a moment as she ran for the bus? god bless that bus driver for quickly working out what was happening!” “That bus driver may have saved Belle’s life!!!” said another. Despite fans saying the episode was like a ‘thriller movie’ they could breathe a sigh of relief as Tom failed to catch up to the bus. Many praised ITV for ‘the best episode’ for a while. “Talk about heart racing, brilliant episode, best one for ages. Let’s hope Cain gets to Tom before Tom gets to Belle.” “Heart racing! What an episode. Acted so brilliantly . Harrowing watch but this type of behaviour needs to be shown and if it helps just one person to get help then that’s got to be worth 30 mins of uncomfortable viewing,” praised another. “That was brilliant #emmerdale – my heart was racing !!! Thank god she took control and got out! A very important message. “Amazing acting, all round!” a fourth exclaimed.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
