Privacy NoticeThe latest twist in Emmerdale has viewers on tenterhooks, as Amelia Spencer might just be the one to expose the true colours of the show’s baddie, Tom King. With actor James Chase set to leave, it’s only a matter of time before Tom’s dastardly deeds catch up with him. Fans are crossing their fingers for a comeuppance for Tom after his cruel treatment of Belle Dingle. Some villagers are being duped by Tom’s deceitful charm, while Belle is struggling to gather proof of his wrongdoings. Tom, playing the innocent, has been spreading rumours that Belle is fabricating stories of abuse and is on the brink of a breakdown.

Lydia and Amelia had a tense conversation about Tom in the latest episode

Amelia, who’s been hoodwinked into dating Tom, is one of those backing him against Belle. Little does she know, she’s just a pawn in his game something Lydia Dingle, Belle’s sister-in-law, can see all too clearly. After weeks of bad-mouthing Belle and trying to clear Tom’s name, Amelia had a change of heart in Wednesday’s episode. She allowed her daughter Esther to visit her grandparents, Lydia and Sam Dingle, despite the ongoing feud between Belle and Tom, reports the Mirror. Lydia seized the opportunity to enlighten Amelia about Tom’s manipulative ways. However, when Lydia questioned if Tom was aware of Amelia’s decision to let Esther visit, Amelia snapped defensively: “This has got nothing to do with him.” She continued, staunch in her defence: “You’re wrong about him you know. He’s not some manipulative control freak, he’s thoughtful and kind.” Lydia dismissed the charming narrative, mentioning he was nice until “he gets what he wants”. Amelia insisted they were building a future together and expressed that Tom absolutely adored her. Sign up to OK’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Emmerdale fans are eagerly waiting for Tom King to get his comeuppance

Expressing her worry, Lydia attempted to lucidly demonstrate to Amelia the manipulation at play. With Amelia referencing Tom as “the perfect gentleman”, Lydia cautioned: “For now. Until the mask slips and the real Tom comes out, and then you realise you’ve been part of his nasty games, and I worry that you and Esther will be in too deep by then.” Amelia seemed angry by Lydia’s words, yet a glimmer of understanding crossed her face. It became clear that Amelia was grappling with doubts about Tom, contemplating if she could be making an erroneous judgement. Fans of the show are now ‘buzzing’ with theories that Amelia could be the one to take Tom down and ‘play him at his own game’. “I feel Amelia is on to Tom. Please give him what he deserves!” exclaimed one fan, as another penned: “Did a light pop on behind Amelia’s eyes just then? A bit like someone opening the fridge door?” Could this be the moment she begins to decipher Tom’s true intentions and possibly uncovers his deceit? There could definitely be a juicy turn of events if Amelia flips the script on Tom and joins forces with Belle to take him down. Teasing potential plot developments, Daisy Campbell, who portrays Amelia, shared with The Mirror: “I want her to team up with Belle! I’m reading the scripts and I’m like, ‘Come on, you’ve got to pull through for Belle’. So hopefully we’ll see some of that.”
