Privacy NoticeEastEnders fans got a shock this week when it was revealed that Teddy Mitchell’s ex-wife, Nicola is set to join the BBC soap in a dramatic move. Teddy, played by Roland Manookian, and his sons Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) and Harry (Elijah Holloway), have made their mark on the square since their arrival earlier this year, and now a new member of the family is set to join in the drama. Teddy’s ex-wife Nicola, played by Laura Doddington, will soon be on our screens with his past coming back to haunt him. Speaking about her arrival on the soap Laura said: “I still can’t believe I’ve joined EastEnders I keep pinching myself! I grew up watching the show, so the first time I filmed in The Vic, I was like a kid at Christmas to be in such an iconic place with such a brilliant cast and crew.”

Laura, who is already filming on set revealed: “Nicola is a complex woman who comes in like the Tasmanian Devil! She’s strong and completely unapologetic about who she is. I’ve been so lucky to have my Mitchell boys, Roland, Elijah and Lewis, as they’ve taken me under their wing, and we feel like a family already. I’m loving every second so far.” As her arrival and picture were announced on social media, fans shared their excitement, although some were left doing a double take, pointing out a uncanny resemblance between the new star and a young Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean). “She’s giving 1985 Sharon,” said one fan on X, while another laughed: “Omg why did I think this was sharon in classic EE lmaooo.”

“Didn’t know Sharon has a sister,” a third wrote, alongside some eye emojis, while another said: “Not just me right? She looks like Sharon!” However, Sharon wasn’t the only EastEnders legend fans were comparing Laura to, as others drew a comparison between the new arrival and Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks). “She’s giving Janine Watts,” joked one, implying a mix of Sharon and Janine. “For a hot second till I read this I thought it looked like Janine,” another said. Others are already predicting storylines for the new character, as one questioned: “Another blonde Mitchell – will Jack go there…?” Viewers may recognise Laura from previous TV roles, having graced our screens with roles in Doctors, Holby City, Casualty, The Bill and The Midwich Cuckoos. EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayerStory SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
