Privacy NoticeChatting with Ranvir Singh and Robert Rinder on Good Morning Britain this Friday, July 26, Bobby Davro is all set for his upcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival show on August 2. During the chat, Bobby gave an update on his health during the interview after his haemorrhagic stroke earlier in the year and spoke openly about his late fiancee, Vicky Wright, who died last year. Yet, when Robert Rinder quizzed him about a potential comeback to the BBC One soap, after leaving the drama 16 years ago, the conversation took a sharp turn. Robert said: “People will be cross if I don’t ask, might you go back to EastEnders?” Bobby teased: “I don’t know, maybe. Maybe next January.” However he then firmly shut down the idea with: “It’s going to be a blinking cold day when I go back there.”

He then swiftly moved the conversation back to his Edinburgh Fringe plans, reports the Mirror. Rising to fame in the ’80s on Live from Her Majesty’s, Bobby became part of the EastEnders cast in 2007 as the mischievous Vinnie Monks. His character had a tumultuous relationship with Shirley Carter, portrayed by Linda Henry, even hitting her with his car en route to court. Vinnie quit life in Walford and jetted across the globe in a vintage car, after feeling that his existence in the Square was meaningless.

Bumping into newly single Shirley Carter, he invited her to join him on this brand new adventure and they both bid farewell to Walford on the 1st December 2008. But when Vinnie discovered that Shirley and her ex-flame Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) had reconnected over a one-night-stand, he urged her to remain in Albert Square. According to him, going back to their own relationship would mean settling for less than she deserved. The last glimpse of Vinnie was him riding off solo to catch a ferry bound for France.

While Vinnie managed to maintain friendly relations with the residents of Walford, Bobby wasn’t quite as enamoured with his time on EastEnders, reportedly stating that his character “wasn’t very good and they didn’t give me proper storylines”, according to Birmingham Live.
