Privacy NoticeIt looks like EastEnders’ Pat Butcher, played by Pam St Clement, could be making an unexpected return for the soap’s monumental 40th anniversary. The iconic character first graced Walford in 1986 and quickly became a fan favourite, establishing herself as one of the show’s most memorable and enduring characters. For a quarter of a century, she was a constant presence on the show, embroiled in numerous major storylines. During her stint in Walford, her character tied the knot four times and had many fiery clashes with her rival Peggy Mitchell. However, in 2012, Pat bid farewell to her earrings for good. Fans will remember that she was written out of the show in January after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Pat made a surprise appearance in 2016, briefly appearing in Peggy Mitchell’s (Barbara Windsor) final episode. Pam also reprised the role of Pat’s ghost in 2018 for SafeGlaze UK, forming a double act with a window salesperson (also portrayed by Pam), reports the Daily Star. Now, over a decade since her on-screen demise, fans are convinced she’s set to return to the soap for its 40th anniversary next February. This speculation has been fuelled by the recent confirmation that David Wicks, Pat’s son, is set to return later this year. One Reddit user suggested that Pat could reappear in the form of a hallucination.

The fan speculated: “Had a wild idea how to bring Pat back for 40th Anniversary.” They elaborated: “Since David is returning, maybe he may have developed psychosis or schizophrenia. Joe suffered a traumatic experience (his Sister died) which triggered schizophrenia, Bianca has been diagnosed with depression and maybe David suffered depression (he has talked about his difficult upbringing) too which could’ve triggered psychosis or schizophrenia.” “Cindy came back from the dead and David may have psychosis episodes where he hallucinates Pat believing that Pat is back too.” Other viewers were quick to jump on board with this theory, with one responding: “He could absolutely have a visitation like Peggy did. And if Joe himself were to return, there’s no reason why he couldn’t see his grandma.” Another chimed in: “Ooooohhhh I like this idea! ! ! ! Anything to bring back Pat! ! ! But thinking about it a schizophrenia/psychosis storyline for around the 40th could be a great way of having dead characters cameo! ! ! They should soooooooooo do this! ! ! “.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
