EastEnders fans are on the edge of their seats as the soap gears up for an earth-shattering week in honour of its 40th birthday, and all eyes are on Steve McFadden. The actor behind Phil Mitchell has been raking in acclaim following Thursday’s (February 13) sensational episode where his portrayal reached new heights. As his character has been battling loneliness and depression, viewers saw him experience a chill-inducing hallucination of past Mitchells, including portrayals of his mum, Peggy, by Jaime Winstone and dad, Eric, played by George Russo. As the storyline deepened, viewers witnessed Phil confronting a younger version of himself portrayed by Daniel Delaney; however, it was a downward spiral as these family figures turned against him, leaving Phil exposed and more fractured than ever. While Steve’s stellar performance shook EastEnders fans to the core, another aspect of his career has also sparked attention online. Die-hard fans were left stunned after discovering that, back in 2000, he made a surprise appearance in the cult classic film Kevin and Perry Go Large. One viewer exclaimed on X: “Deciding to watch Kevin and Perry Go Large and completely forgetting Steve McFadden is the guy taking payments on the door to Amnesia.” Another person quipped: “Didn’t Know Steve McFadden AKA Phil Mitchell was in Kevin And Perry Go Large!” Meanwhile, someone else chimed in with: “Why the f**k has Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) got a 10 second stint in ‘Kevin and Perry Go Large’?!” That’s right. Even with over 30 years as Albert Square’s tough guy, Steve McFadden made a memmorable appearance in the cult hit comedy 25 years ago.

The movie chronicles Kevin and Perry’s wild jaunt to Ibiza, where they aim to flaunt their DJ skills and ditch their virgin status. Despite being chaperoned by adults, the boys collide with a legendary DJ and stumble upon the “girls of their dreams”. They encounter Eye Ball Paul, portrayed by Rhys Ifans, who ends up playing their track in a club, and kickstarting the beginning of their DJ careers. In a classic scene, when Kevin and Perry try to strut into Amnesia nightclub, uncertainty looms as their parents deliberate joining them. Upon entering, Kevin’s father enquires about the entrance fee from a stoic security guard. EastEnders fans will soon realise Steve plays the role of the bouncer, who dryly quips: “No concessions for senior citizens.” Though he’s been making his mark in Walford since 1990, Steve still snuck in time to deliver this iconic line in the beloved British comedy. The piece of TV trivia has left fans absolutely delighted.
