Privacy NoticeEastEnders enthusiasts, brace yourselves for thunderbolts and lightning as Tommy Moon might just follow in the sinister footsteps of his dad, Michael Moon, the notorious Walford villain! The show has teased that Kat Slater (portrayed by the fab Jessie Wallace) and her boy Tommy Moon (the talented Sonny Kendall) are taking centre stage in a gut-wrenching child to parent abuse storyline hitting our screens this summer. The mischief started when wee Tommy began spiralling earlier this year, post Kat calling it quits with Phil Mitchell ( EastEnders legend Steve McFadden). Tommy’s been stirring the pot something serious lately – from giving school the slip, nicking goodies from the Minute Mart, and now, in jaw-dropping scenes, the lad’s anger burst out all over Kat. In a botched attempt to be cupid for Kat and her ex-flame Phil, Tommy got all wild-eyed and hands-on. And there’s more heartache on the horizon; EastEnders is plotting to show Tommy trying to rule the roost over Kat with an iron fist, throwing their mother-son bond and the whole Slater-Moon clan into chaos. Now, fans are perching on the edge of their seats as they gossip over whether young Tommy could transform into a killer, echoing his dad, the cold-blooded Michael Moon who swanned into Albert Square back in October 2010. Chins are wagging all over an EastEnders Facebook fan group, where one eagle-eyed viewer speculated: “Does anyone think that Tommy Moon is capable of murder like Bobby or Ben?”, reports the Daily Star.

EastEnders enthusiasts have been sharing their thoughts on the latest plot twists, with one fan expressing concern: “I agree. He’s turning downright sinister.” Another is equally worried, commenting: “Didn’t Bobby and Ben kill by accident? I think Tommy is capable of cold blood murder in a meditated pre-planned way.” The conversation continued as another viewer speculated: “I hope not but I think he will. Just what we need another killer in Albert Square,” while a different fan hoped for a different storyline: “I don’t want them to go down that route.” Speculation is rife among the audience about who could be Tommy’s potential victim, with a fan suggesting: “Perhaps Tommy will get rid of Nish.” This prompted another to respond: “That would be a good twist – someone unexpected and it wouldn’t paint Tommy in a really bad light.”

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, weighed in on the child to parent abuse storyline, explaining: “Kat is well-known in Albert Square for her no-nonsense attitude and fiery temper, but this storyline will explore how Tommy manipulates Kat’s unequivocal love for her son to exert his anger and elicit control.” He praised the actors involved, saying: “Jessie [Wallace] and Sonny’s [Kendall] performances have thoughtfully portrayed the complex realities of child to parent abuse with compassion and understanding, and the storyline will demonstrate how Tommy’s behaviour effects their relationship and the wider Slater-Moon family as a whole.” To conclude, Clenshaw highlighted the importance of accuracy and sensitivity in portraying such a serious issue: “To ensure we accurately and sensitively portray the realities of child to parent abuse, we have worked alongside Family Based Solutions, PEGS and NSPCC as well as other experts in the field.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
