EastEnders fans are certain they’ve cracked the case on which Albert Square regular won’t be escaping the Queen Vic unscathed following Tuesday’s cliffhanger. The tension was palpable as Reiss Colwell’s car slammed into the iconic pub. The drama escalated when Bianca and Reiss had a heated exchange, leading to Reiss tearing through the Square at breakneck speed. The stakes soared even higher as Cindy, in a fit of fury after discovering Kathy was her Christmas Day attacker, shoved Ian Beale into the path of Reiss’s oncoming vehicle. This caused Reiss to veer off course, colliding with gas canisters.

Onlookers were frozen in horror as the Vic erupted into flames, trapping beloved characters inside amidst Honey and Billy’s wedding festivities. Stacey, Martin, Sonia, Lauren, and Sharon were among the EastEnders stalwarts caught up in the revelry inside the pub. Meanwhile, Linda, Grant, and Nigel stepped out to ensure Phil’s safety, fearing he might take his own life. A dramatic scene unfolded at the Arches where Grant found Phil with a gun, pleading with him, “You don’t have to do this,” only for Phil to insist, “I do,” reports the Mirror. Before they left, Grant (Ross Kemp) pondered if they should inform Sharon about their mission, but Linda decided against it, saying: “She’s been through enough, let’s leave her out of it.” Just moments earlier, a tipsy Kim caused a scene as she accidentally drenched Sharon with her drink. And right after Grant, Linda, and Nigel had dashed off to see to Phil, Sharon was spotted querying Tracey the barmaid about going up for a quick dry off.

That was the last glimpse viewers had of Sharon, heading upstairs. The tension ramped up when later, amidst the horrendous explosion, parts of the roof were seen collapsing, leaving everyone biting their nails over whether Sharon was still up there. X, formerly known as Twitter, was buzzing with anxious fans unable to shake the image of Sharon out of their minds. One fretful viewer posted: “I can’t stop thinking about Sharon. The way nobody knows she’s upstairs,” while another wrote: “how can I rest now when Sharon could be lying there dead!” A third expressed outright panic: “THE FACT SHARON IS UPSTAIRS IS SCARING ME. i am pleading with the bbc save our shazza #EastEnders” and yet a fourth urged: “Someone go get Sharon NOW i’m so serious #EastEnders.” In sneak peeks at Wednesday night’s extended episode, it’s also revealed that Martin is on a mission to locate Stacey, who has also vanished.
