Privacy Notice Michelle Collins totally stunned viewers after she made an appearance on Lorraine earlier this year to dish the details about her illustrious soap opera career. The TV legend, who is famously remembered for her role as Cindy Beale in BBC’s EastEnders, had fans floored with her youthful look and her passion for keeping mature women and actors in the spotlight. Enthralled fans took to social media to share their admiration for Michelle’s advocacy for the older generation in the entertainment industry. One admirer tweeted: “@missmcollins Loved your Lorraine interview. The way you champion all us older actors is so heartening. We may be well seasoned but we are not dead yet!” Another fan praised her during the chat show: “Great Interview on #Lorraine this morning @missmcollins loving that Cindy is back in #EastEnders,” while another commented: “@missmcollins just watching you on Lorraine. You look incredible! I’m sat here in sweats not looking as good.”

Another said: “@missmcollins just listening to you on [Lorraine]. Thank You for speaking out for mature women and actors. Please write our stories, as you say we have so much to say and give.” Known for her unforgettable performances in two of Britain’s leading soaps – EastEnders and Coronation Street, Michelle – who is 62 years old – reprised her role as the iconic Cindy Beale in EastEnders last year. Shockwaves went through Albert Square when Cindy was killed off-screen 25 years ago in 1998, leaving fans convinced they’d seen the last of her. However, in a jaw-dropping twist in the summer of 2023, she made a dramatic comeback complete with some rather tense encounters. Chatting to Lorraine, Michelle opened up about her return to the show: “Where are those roles for older women? And where is that visibility of women of a certain age? We’ve still got a lot more to give as women and as actors.”

Cindy first graced Walford as Cindy Williams, later becoming Cindy Beale after marrying Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), going on to have four kids with three different men; Lucy, Peter, Cindy Jr and Steven Beale. The show had audiences believing Cindy met her demise in 1998 during childbirth off-screen. But in an unexpected twist, it turned out she was actually living it up under the alias “Rose Sawyer” post-prison, alongside hubby and bar owner George Knight (Colin Salmon). However, after the tragic news of her daughter Lucy’s murder, Cindy’s marriage fell apart in 2014, leading her to bail from Marbella and lay low until her witness protection ran its course. Now, Cindy’s back in the Square for good still causing mischief.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
