Privacy NoticeEastEnders have aired a deadly cliffhanger, in which Nish Panesar’s life is left hanging in the balance. In an early release of the episode on BBC iPlayer, Nish (played by Navin Chowdhry) confronted his wife, Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) when he suddenly collapsed in agony. Suki saw her horrible husband clutching his heart on the floor and assumed he was faking, but quickly realised that Nish genuinely needed help. Suki went to call an ambulance, but then realised that there was an easy way to end her ordeal – and put the phone down. She told her husband: “This will never stop, you said it Nish, this will never end.”

As the classic ‘doof doof’ sounded, it left Nish’s fate unknown as Suki continued to watch him suffer. Earlier in the episode, sinister Nish drove the car into a back alley and then revealed his identity to his son, Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota), who looked terrified that his dad was the driver. Vinny made up a story as to why he was leaving Albert Square, but Nish didn’t believe him and led him to the kitchen at Walford East to talk. Meanwhile, Suki and Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) began to worry that Vinny hadn’t texted, and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) told Suki in the café that Vinny can’t be in one of her cabs as he cancelled earlier.

Consumed by anger and devastation, Nish hit Vinny around the head with a coffee press and Vinny collapsed unconscious on the floor. When Vinny eventually came round, Nish brandished a knife and lunged at his son to stab him, but at that moment Suki and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) found them and fended him off. Suki wanted Nish sent to prison – but instead the pair went home to ‘talk out’ their problems, which is when Nish collapsed and the episode came to a shocking end.

Whilst chatting with Radio Times, actor Navin admitted he could have been in EastEnders a lot sooner: “I had been approached over the years,” he reveals. “Whenever it came my way either I was involved in other things, it was the timing or it just didn’t fit in with what I wanted to do at that moment. But the universe has a funny way of delivering things at different moments, and when this part came along I thought, ‘OK, let’s have the conversation.” Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
