Privacy NoticeSince setting foot in Walford, Dean Wicks has been one of EastEnders’ biggest villains. Having first joined the BBC One soap 18 years ago, Dean, played by Matt Di Angelo, has continued to stir up trouble in Albert Square – even from prison. Following the famous ‘The Six’ Christmas storyline, Dean was arrested for Keanu Taylor’s murder after being framed and having the murder weapon planted in his flat. However, despite being behind bars, he was still able to rock Linda Carter as he awaited the trial. The TV baddie first made his appearance on Albert Square in 2006 and quickly became a fan favourite before leaving two years later. He returned in 2014 but his character soon took a dark turn and now fans are eager to see him get his comeuppance, reports RSVP Live.

But with the dramatic storyline yet to fully unfold, actor Matt has confirmed that he shall be departing the soap following Dean’s trial. So, as he prepares to say goodbye to the role, let’s take a closer look at the soap star’s life away from the screen… Family life In 2021, Matt tied the knot with his beautiful wife Sophia Perry after a romantic beach proposal in 2019. The couple have been together since 2014, and in 2022 they welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, into their family. Matt joyfully took to social media to announce the arrival of his twins, joking that he was “struggling with the steriliser in the kitchen”. He also shared that he and Sophia decided to name their “dynamic duo” Raphael and Daphne.

Real name It’s a little-known fact that Matt Di Angelo isn’t the 36 year old actor’s birth name. His actual moniker is Mario Angelo S Constantinou, which nods to his Greek roots. Born in 1987, Matt honed his acting chops at the renowned Sylvia Young Theatre School, paving his way to roles on hit shows like EastEnders and The Hustle on BBC.

Strictly romance The year following his debut as Dean Wicks on Albert Square, Matt stepped onto the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor in 2007 where he found love with his dance partner Flavia Cacace. The dancing duo made it all the way to the final, ultimately coming in second to Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler. Reflecting on their connection with the Mirror at the time, Matt said: “I’ve never felt like this before. When I’m with her I have a stupid, schoolboy grin that says, ‘I think you’re amazing’. Being with her makes me very happy.”

“I love her little pixie ears, her chic short hair, her transfixing smile. And that body, that six-pack. She’s stupidly attractive. Every guy in Britain knows it. She looks drop-dead gorgeous in her dancing outfits. But to me, she’s just as amazing when her face is scrubbed clean of make-up and she’s wearing baggy tracksuit bottoms.” Matt and Flavia were an item for three years before they decided to end their relationship due to their hectic work schedules. Flavia revealed to The Sun: “We have broken up. It was due to our work – travelling so much and being away from home so much. We are still in touch and very good friends.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
