Privacy NoticeEamonn Holmes appeared to be caught in a thoughtful moment on GB News on Wednesday (August 7) as the morning show talked about animals and their intuitive emotions. The discussion on the show came as Eamonn and his estranged wife Ruth Langsford, who parted ways, are reportedly working out custody of their own pet, their dog, Maggie. Eamonn and co-host Isabel Webster engaged in a heartfelt discussion about how animals can sense distress and exhibit profound affection. During the conversation, they mentioned findings indicating that cats can mourn the loss of their animal companions. Eamonn seemed lost in thought and as he glanced down at his hands, his expression seemed tinged with sadness. Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

He then said: “I think it’s fascinating how we are being shown and educated the feelings of animals and that they know and can sense when things are wrong, and they show and can demonstrate lots and lots of love as well.” Both Eamonn and Ruth are both clearly fond of their own pet, often posting pics on their respective social media platforms. Reports have surfaced suggesting that they facing “difficult conversations” over the custody of their much-loved pet as they sort out the details of the final stages of their separation, according to the Express. A source claimed: “Maggie is like a daughter to them. They dote on her. But she’s getting on and they know she needs stability. “It’s a case of who can give her that. Eamonn adores her and Maggie’s been such a support during his health woes.” “The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him. But if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split.”

The beloved 14-year-old canine has recently suffered her own bad times, having had to undergo an operation at the vet to remove a lump. Ruth took to social media to post updates and cute photos of Maggie when she was back at home and on the road to recovery. This followed Eamonn sharing his own photo with Maggie. “A lot of you wondering about Maggie. She’s had an op to remove a growth. All well. Not bad for a 14-year-old! In fact, she’s in better shape than me,” he posted. Ruth and Eamonn couple met in 1997 after being introduced by a mutual friend and went on to marry in Hampshire in 2010, and now share a 21-year-old son, Jack. They announced their divorce in May.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
