Dragons’ Den favourite Sara Davies has emotionally declared she’s ‘stepping away’ from the hit BBC programme in an heartfelt farewell posted across social media. The TV presenter, author and businesswoman, 40, who joined the line-up in 2019, has made the difficult decision to leave after six years. On her Instagram, she penned, “Little update from me….. As this last run of Dragons’ comes to an end I have to say I’ve loved every minute of this series so far and I’m so proud of the businesses I’ve invested in this year!” Back at the helm as CEO of her company Crafter’s Companion, Sara went on to add: “As a lot of you will know, I’ve taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter’s Companion and my business is my big priority this year. And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons’ Den such a rewarding role. As well as filming an incredible show, being a Dragon requires so much dedication and time behind the scenes as you join the life of each business you invest in.

“It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation. It’s so much more than a TV show. That’s why I’ve taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby! So I won’t be filming with the team this year for the next series.” Signing off with a touch of warmth, she said, “Sending so much love to my fellow Dragons and the amazing team behind it all. In the meantime, you can still catch me in the second half of this series of Dragons’ Den later in the year – it will not disappoint!”, reports the Mirror. Fans are gutted after hearing that their favourite dragon is leaving the show. One emotional viewer wrote: “We will miss you Sara. You are certainly the best dragon on the show! Won’t be the same without you,” while another shared: “Your presence will be missed hugely on the programme but what an exciting year you have ahead! ! ! !”

Another viewer said: “Oh no! ! You are our favourite dragon, we will miss you! Wishing you all the best with Crafter’s Companion!” Sara’s journey began at university when she invented an envelope-making tool for card makers, spotting a niche market gap. After having it crafted from MDF by a local joiner, her business idea soared and now, the company boasts over 190 employees. A celebrated entrepreneur, Sara has scooped more than 25 business awards and was even honoured with an MBE for her contributions to the economy. Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment commissioning at the BBC, said: “Sara has been an exceptional Dragon, investing in numerous entrepreneurs over her years in the Den. We wish her all the best and hope to have her back in future series.”
