Privacy NoticeThe Crown’s Ben Miles is back on our screens in ITVX’s latest comedy-drama Douglas is Cancelled – a series starring Hugh Bonneville as the titular TV presenter whose career begins to tank after he makes an ill-advised joke at a wedding. Ben, 57, stars as Toby, a producer on Douglas’ news programme who deals with the crisis of his star’s joke being leaked to social media. However, he’s just one big name in the stellar cast, which includes the likes of Karen Gillan, Alex Kingston, Nick Mohammed and Simon Russell Beale. While fans will know Ben best for playing Peter Townsend in The Crown, Patrick in comedy Coupling and Danny Hart in The Capture, outside of TV and film, he enjoys a quiet family life with his wife – who is also an actor.

Douglas is Cancelled cast: Who stars in ITV comedy-drama?
With Douglas Is Cancelled now available to stream on ITVX, here’s everything you need to know about star Ben Miles – and his life off-screen with actress wife Emily Raymond. Doctor Who star wife Ben Miles is best known for his starring roles in The Crown, Lark Rise to Candleford, Coupling and Peak Practice, however his wife Emily Raymond is also a star of stage and screen. The 57-year-old met his now-wife Emily back in 1991, when they performed in a play together at the Birmingham Rep Theatre. “We were doing a play called Saturday, Sunday, Monday by Eduardo de Filipo, where we all had these terrible Italian accents,” he told the Derbyshire Times. “It took me until the end of the run which was about six weeks to ask her out for a drink.” The couple have been together ever since and share three children – two sons and a daughter – together aged 24, 22 and 18. Emily is best known for appearing in TV films such as A Murder of Quality and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She was also in episodes of Peak Practice, Highlander, The Investigator and Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor Adventures.

She recently starred as Myra Bruhl in Deathtrap at The Mill at Sonning and has directed productions of David Copperfield, Twelfth Night, The Merchant or Venice and Hay Fever. Speaking about how she got into acting, Emily said in an interview : “Both my parents are actors so I have that strange thing. I’ve got two siblings who were both older than me and neither of them seemed that interested in it. “It was always thought growing up, if anyone goes into it, it’s probably going to be Emily.” Family life Ben and Emily now share three children together and live in their family home in northwest London. During the pandemic, the couple used a room in their home to do radio recordings and voiceovers, which is also where their children played musical instruments. Speaking about his kids, Ben told the Derbyshire Times that he stopped playing his musical instruments as his sons – who are both musicians – are better than him.

“My sons’ influence on me is that I stopped playing because they are a lot better than me!” he said. “They’ve absorbed a lot of the music I’ve been listening to. I listen to a lot of electronic music, dance music, soul and funk. “I’m obsessed with the Sheffield scene of the late Seventies when people like Cabaret Voltaire and Human League were doing their stuff.” Back in 2021, Ben revealed that his family have two dogs – rescue dog Ellie and French bulldog Barry. “Our youngest son was keen to get a French bulldog and call it Barry, so that is exactly what we did,” he told Mayhew, an animal welfare charity. “The dogs are firm pals (after a very spiky first month!). Barry is such a character and has definitely given Ellie a new lease of life.” Douglas is Cancelled is available to stream on ITVX.
