Earlier this week, David beamed as he appeared alongside Prince William, as they joined forces to celebrate smashing a £15 million target to replace London’s ageing air ambulance helicopters. William, 42, gave football superstar David a personal royal tour of the cockpit, after previously sending him a personal invited to be part of the charity’s campaign to fund the new helicopter. Becks revealed that he was invited over the phone by the future king, sharing: “It was just an honour to be invited by Prince William to be involved with this.” David explained, referencing his London roots: “I know what this means to Prince William… and the moment he called and asked me, yeah I had to hide my excitement a little bit because like I said, I’ve been a fan of the London Air Ambulance for a long time, being an East End boy.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

He added: “These guys rely on public funding, donations, so the fact I could get involved so that we could raise the money that we raised and bought one of these incredible helicopters! So it’s nice to help in a small way.” William and David were seen to share a joke or two as Becks climbed into the cockpit at the meeting in Northolt, West London. They went on to leave their mark, literally, on the new aircraft, by writing a personal message each on the helicopter. William, sporting his new controversial stubble for the occasion, wrote “Back in the middle” on the helicopter, while David expressed his gratitude, penning: “Thank you. Fly Safe… Love David Beckham.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
