Privacy Notice A Dancing On Ice professional skater has confessed they’re keen to join Strictly Come Dancing despite the scandals linked to the BBC series. Strictly chiefs are currently in the throes of planning for the show’s 20th anniversary series while dealing with multiple controversies and investigations. Graziano Di Prima was the most recent pro to be axed from the 2024 line-up last week, with the Italian dancer later confessing he accidentally kicked his 2023 partner Zara McDermott during a rehearsal. His departure came just weeks after it was confirmed that Giovanni Pernice, who recently split from his model girlfriend, has left the Strictly family following allegations about his teaching methods, which he denies, after a complaint from actress Amanda Abbington. Giovanni previously stated in a press release that he is fully cooperating with an ongoing BBC investigation and that he looks “forward to clearing my name”.

In the midst of all the drama, BBC bosses are reportedly finding it difficult to secure female celebrities willing to participate in this year’s upcoming series, set to kick off in the autumn. However, Dancing On Ice star Vanessa Bauer is more than ready to trade the ice rink for the BBC dance floor. “I would love to do Strictly. I think it’s time for a Dancing on Ice pro to be a celebrity on Strictly Come Dancing,” Vanessa said in a recent chat with The Sun. “We’ve had enough ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pros being a celebrity on ‘Dancing on Ice’ and I think it’s time to switch the world.” Vanessa, a well-known figure in the entertainment industry, is currently single after parting ways with her boyfriend of nine months. Vanessa and Dan Underwood decided to call it quits due to their hectic schedules making it difficult for them to spend quality time together. A source told The Sun: “Vanessa and Dan are still on good terms and are friends, but their job takes them to different parts of the world and they have struggled with the distance. They realised they better off as friends for now, but still have a lot of love and respect for each other. Vanessa is busy with her career and is focusing on herself and her acting right now.”

Vanessa’s positive comments about Strictly Come Dancing come amid one of the show’s professional dancers denying any issues with the BBC regarding the series. Following reports that Nadiya Bychkova and fellow Strictly professional Kai Widdrington had ended their relationship, the Daily Mail reported that Nadiya contacted BBC bosses to raise concerns about the show. However, Nadiya clarified on Instagram on Friday: “There have been lots of Strictly rumours around in the last few days and I just wanted you to know that I have not complained about the programme. I am looking forward to the new series and can’t wait for it to start. Enjoying a wonderful weekend with my family”. Last weekend, Graziano Di Prima announced he was leaving the show following claims about his treatment of reality star Zara McDermott when they competed together last year. Allegations have also been made about former Strictly star Giovanni Pernice’s teaching methods, which he denies. Former Strictly professionals Ian Waite and Vincent Simone said they were “surprised” by the allegations against the dancers. Ian said he did not experience anyone being aggressive during his time on the show, but condemned any physical action as “not appropriate”.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
