Privacy NoticeCoronation Street actress Georgia May Foote has revealed to fans on social media that she’s been rushed for “last minute surgery” at hospital and has no idea when she’ll be able to return to her day job. The 33 soap star – who was a former fan favourite on the ITV soap – switched life on the cobbled streets to become a nail technician and has since set up a salon in Manchester. But in a shocking Instagram post on her business page GMFNails, Georgia – who played Katy Armstrong on Corrie – told fans on Saturday that she had “no idea” what recovery would be like. Georgie wrote: “Thank you. Clients booked in last week, I just wanted to let you know that I had last minute surgery today. I’m not sure what the recovery is like or how quick I will be able to return. So I am just giving a heads up that your appointment may change.”

The former Grange Hill star, however, kept things rather hush when it came to what her surgery was for and didn’t disclose to followers what her health concerns could be. However, the star has always been candid about her health battles with her online following. She once asked fans to “be kind” as she addressed her vitiligo condition. The NHS describes it as a long term condition caused by a lack of melanin, a pigment in the skin.

Georgia also previously shared pictures on Instagram page highlighting how the pigment on her skin is changing. She wrote: “Every time I go on holiday and I get a beautiful tan, I see how much my vitiligo has spread more than ever before. “I would be lying if I didn’t say it gets to me. It makes me feel super insecure at times. But seeing how the people around me support me and still love me the same makes my heart feel full.” The star – who was was runner-up on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing in 2015- continued: “I’ve noticed people staring, having a good old nosy with their faces screwed up, and that’s when my heart drops. “So this is just a friendly reminder to those people to be kind. I’m sure the way it makes you feel is nothing in comparison to how the person with it feels. “I’m proud to be a voice for people like me with the condition. I battle with how I feel about it every day. Today’s one of those days I remember there is nothing I can do about it. So here we are. Showing it in all its glory (I do have lipstick on, but my whole colour has now gone in and around my lips).”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
