Privacy NoticeCoronation Street fave Sair Khan is back on set after welcoming her little one into the world. The 36 year old star, who brings Alya Nazir to life on the ITV soap, teased her return by posting a sneak peek of her script on her Instagram Story. It’s her first time back since becoming a mum to her adorable baby boy in April. Sair was cheeky about her comeback, captioning the snap: “I am Backstreet.” Fans last saw her character jet off to Dublin for a new job, leaving behind a budding closeness with her boss Adam Barlow (played by Sam Robertson).

Alongside partner Nathan Chilton, Sair experienced quite the journey into motherhood it took a marathon 22 hours of labour which she has called an “absolute rollercoaster”. Taking to Instagram in May, the new mum joked about the sleepless nights: “He’s here! Okay, when I said ‘Spring awakening’ in my last post I didn’t mean ‘keep’ me awake. The new parent zombie look is definitely a thing isn’t it.” But all was well worth it, as she gushed about her son: “More importantly our little boy is just marvellous. Very serious and curious about the world. He’s super strong and so resilient for joining me on the absolute rollercoaster that was our 22 hours of labour. We didn’t quite get the birth I’d hoped for but that’s okay (two birth pools, no water birth)”.

Reflecting on her experience, she appreciated the raw and intense nature of childbirth, glad for keeping an open mind: “It was raw and primal and I’m glad I kept an open heart and no expectations because my gosh I had NO IDEA what a ride I was in for.” Sair then explained it had been a steep learning curve from “latches and vomit” to “tears” whilst dealing with sleep deprivation, she also spoke about taking time to heal her own body. Sair then added she had massive “respect” to all the new mums and dads trying to get through the first few weeks of parenthood. Sair, who shared her pregnancy announcement back in December, went on to add that she was feeling “unbelievably grateful” that her baby was delivered happily and healthily. She also thanked her partner Nathan and the “incredible support network” as well, which also included late night voice notes from her friends. She then joked: “Anyone else ever felt like there’s a DJ beat coming from your breast pump at 3am or is that what delirium is?!”.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
