Privacy NoticeCalum Lill has sent shivers down Coronation Street viewers’ backs over recent months with his character Joel Deering’s harrowing storyline, where he attacked Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). And now, it seems that Calum’s villainous character’s storyline is coming to an end, with the actor reportedly saying goodbye to the cobbles very soon. “Calum has made a huge impact as Joel over the last year but he always knew it would be for a fixed term. He’s been great playing Joel but all good soap villains must get their comeuppance and Joel’s is coming very soon,” a source told The Sun.

Calum has previously spoken about how his story is one which would always come to and end, and he has already bagged his first job following the role. The actor is set to appear in a Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime in Bournemouth later this year. The production runs from Sat 7 Dec 2024 to Sun 5 Jan 2025, meaning Calum will likely be finished up with the soap before then – as stars cannot usually star in stage shows while on the show. The source added: “He’s already landed his first job after the show and so he’ll be finished in time to start rehearsals for that. But on-screen Joel has no idea what’s coming for him as his dark secrets start to be exposed.”

His exit storyline has not yet been revealedd

On screen, Joel became front and centre of Lauren’s disappearance storyline earlier this year – as the character mysteriously vanished from Weatherfield back in February. She seemed to have disappeared without a trace, but when blood was discovered in her flat, her disappearance escalated into a murder investigation, with innocent Roy Cropper being wrongfully accused of her murder by DS Lisa Swain. However, in a twist of events in May, it was revealed that Joel was the culprit behind her disappearance. A shocking flashback scene unveiled the solicitor as Lauren’s secret ‘boyfriend’ who had savagely assaulted her with a chair leg.

It wasn’t until recently that Lauren was confirmed to be alive after the horrific attack, as she made a surprise appearance at ailing Roy’s hospital bedside following his heart attack. In a further bombshell, it was revealed that Lauren is pregnant with Joel’s baby, with Joel now hiding her in an empty flat and secretly visiting her as he attempts to organise her move to Ireland.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
