Already having picked up his first bumper pile of scripts as he prepares to start shooting, Sean said: “ It was great to be invited back to Coro St again, to contribute to Helen’s exit story. “We’ll have a few months to catch up with Martin and Gail again, following the ebbs and flows of the unfolding storyline. “Playing Martin has been a joy since day one and in a way, I’ll be slipping back to where I left off, which no doubt will throw a spanner into the heart of the Platt family. It’s just like slipping on an old and comfortable jumper from the back of the wardrobe …I’m looking forward to reuniting with my TV family.”

Sean will make a comeback as Martin Platt

Sean played Martin for 20 years from 1985 to 2005 and in that time he met Gail and they welcomed their son, David. In 1999, Martin had an affair with Rebecca Hopkins, and was all set to leave Gail, but his plans changed when it was discovered that Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) fell pregnant at the age of just thirteen. Martin and Gail separated and Gail went on to marry Richard Hillman. Martin was part of the rescue team when Richard attempted to kill the Platt family. Martin left Weatherfiend in 2008 with his new girlfriend and ten years later, the two of them, and their children, emigrated to New Zealand. What has brought Martin back to the UK and what part will he play in Gail’s departure from the street?

After leaving the cobbles, Sean went on to appear on Silent Witness, Casualty, Waterloo Road, The Royal, Doctors and in 2006, he competed on Dancing on Ice where he finished in sixth place.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
