Joel was declared dead by DS Swain, after he and his colleague Kit Green stumbled upon a worrying discovery. This came after Dee-Dee Bailey received a concerning voicemail from her ex, whose dark deeds were recently brought to light. The detectives found an abandoned car and a note near a bridge. After searching through Joel’s flat, Swain and Kit concluded that he might have taken his own life to evade justice. However, certain scenes hinted there could be more to his disappearance.

Viewers are suspecting that Joel was actually murdered, and the culprit could be someone we know. Scenes featuring Swain and Kit led fans to believe they might be implicated, with one of them possibly being Joel’s killer, reports the Mirror. But could there be a cover-up in progress? One viewer pondered: “Do we think Joel attacked her?” referring to Swain who seemed to be injured. Could there have been a confrontation between her and Joel leading to his demise? Another fan theorised: “I’m going full Dee dee style detective with this and I need a life but when Kit and Swain are in Joel’s flat they’re clearly discussing/making sure they have a believable story and are leaving no evidence behind in their cover-up. A third viewer suggested: “Rewatched the scenes, when Swain said “Betsy’s involvement changed everything” – she has so killed him/ accidentally killed him.”

Some fans are speculating that Joel isn’t really dead and might be planning revenge on the locals. Dee-Dee had visited the spot where Joel’s car was abandoned and sought advice from Lauren Bolton as she started to search the surrounding area. Lauren, who stayed in the hospital with her son Frankie, recently informed Dee-Dee that a tracker on Joel’s phone had pinpointed him at an undisclosed location, which led the lawyer to review the record of Joel’s previous whereabouts. However, she soon noticed a concealed car and quickly deduced that the vehicle was likely Joel’s escape car. This seemed to be confirmed later when Kit informed Swain that the car had been sold to someone fitting Joel’s description. Those watching these scenes pondered whether Joel was hiding out and preparing to disappear permanently, or perhaps his plan had been foiled. But has something happened to the resident villain?
