Corrie lovers have been utterly gobsmacked to discover that Katy Cavanagh, known for her role as the loveable yet unfortunate in romance Julie Carp, boasts a son who’s a Hollywood star. Katy, who captured hearts as Eileen Grimshaw’s (played by Sue Cleaver) sister, first graced Weatherfield’s iconic streets back in 2008, swiftly becoming a fan favourite. Fast forward to 2015, and Katy’s exit as Julie left viewers reaching for tissues. Since then, she’s strutted her stuff on comedy gems like Not Going Out and Birds of A Feather, not to mention her stints on the stage. But February 19’s episode heralded Julie’s unexpected return amidst the buzz of Eileen’s departure celebration, marking 25 years on the show.

During the recent episode, Todd (Gareth Pierce), Julie’s nephew, caught sight of her at the Chariot Square Hotel, sparking mysteries about her sudden reappearance in Weatherfield – which Katy teases will bring “closure”, reports Leicestershire Live. What truly knocked Corrie fans for six, was unravelling the fact that Katy isn’t the only star in the family—her son Noah Jupe is causing waves in Hollywood.

She has a famous son

The young actor, now straddling the line between 19 and 20, has shone in big hits like the thrilling A Quiet Place alongside Emily Blunt and starred with Nicole Kidman in The Undoing. Chatting with Variety, Noah spilled the beans on his family’s deep roots in showbiz: “My mum was an actress for a while, my dad was a producer, been an AD, been on a film set his whole life, so we’re a very film family. We’re very savvy in terms of the industry.”

He added that having such clued-up parents was a boon during his early acting gigs: “It was very helpful with me working as a kid because my parents would be on set and they know what they were doing, and they’d know about all the different intricacies of being on set.” And it seems fans are gobsmacked to discover the familial link between Katy and Noah. A Coronation Street Facebook fan page lit up with surprise, featuring a snapshot of the mother-son pair, prompting one fan to post: “Katy and her son Noah.” Another fan expressed their adoration: “I love Julie! And I didn’t know that was her son! .” A third was equally astounded: “I can’t believe the son in the undoing is the real son of the woman that played Julie in Corrie Lol.” Meanwhile, another chimed in with recognition: “I thought I recognised him!” Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
