The show, hosted by the dynamic duo Dick and Dom (Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood), was a staple for many children from 2002 to 2006. The programme was known for its wild antics that had kids glued to their screens on weekend mornings. Now, some of those outrageous moments are making waves on TikTok, leaving viewers in stitches – and reminding them of the parental outrage it once sparked. A TikTok user named @cjfs00s posted a clip showing the kind of complaints the show used to get on Points of View. In the video, we see the legendary Terry Wogan reading out some of the hilarious grievances.

One disgruntled parent described Dick and Dom in da Bungalow as “unspeakably awful” and couldn’t fathom why it was broadcasted. Another, Alison Bishop, expressed shock, saying: “I was appalled last Saturday when I walked into the lounge to find my two young boys watching onions being rubbed into people’s eyes on ‘Dick and Dom’.” She went on to label it as “inappropriate behaviour” for children’s television. The video then showcased the clip from 2005, featuring a group of kids and adults picking up pieces of onion and rubbing them into people’s eyes. The hosts, of course, cautioned viewers not to attempt this at home. Terry then appeared on screen to inform viewers they had conducted “tireless research” to find out what happened, revealing onions weren’t actually rubbed into people’s eyes during rehearsal, but were simply “sniffed”.

He concluded by saying: “Remember adults, it’s a children’s programme.” As expected, it left viewers in fits of laughter, finding the nostalgic throwback hilarious. Today, mainstream TV options are far less bizarre and wonderful. The types of shows that little ones watch have significantly evolved. One viewer commented: “Always knew Terry Wogan was a good guy, bless him.” Another posted: “DADITB was too intelligent. Went over most people’s heads. The humour was genius.” A third chimed in: “I loved Dick and Dom in da Bungalow as a kid.
