Privacy NoticeKing Charles and Queen Camilla have braved the elements during their two-day visit to the Channel Islands. Basking in the beautiful sunshine on their Guernsey trip, it was a stark contrast to the torrential rain and gusty winds they faced yesterday in Jersey. The Royal couple were caught in a downpour while attending a parade in St Helier’s capital, with both King and Queen, who is celebrating her 77th birthday, clutching umbrellas and Camilla donning her raincoat for extra warmth. However, Camilla encountered a bit of a wardrobe malfunction as she struggled to slip her jacket on properly. The Queen was seen battling with her umbrella and coat sleeve, leading to a visibly frustrated Charles stepping in to assist. Press asserts that Charles seemed to command: “Come and help her!” Body language expert Judi James also weighed in on the incident, suggesting to the Mirror that Camilla has a “similar relationship with raincoats as Charles does with leaky pens”. She observed that Charles, stuck with helping Camilla with only one arm in her coat, showed signs of frustration and irritation with a telling jaw-jut.

“His impatient-looking tugging of her sleeve only made things worse and, like his episodes with the pens, he seems to look behind in a state of tetchiness to get someone else from their staff to do the job instead. Poor Camilla is finally heaved into the coat but it’s a while before she can regain her pose and composure again and get back into her regal role.” Meanwhile, today it was revealed that Camilla actually injured herself during the visit to Jersey as while in Guernsey this morning, she sported a bandage on her right ankle. The strapping on her ankle for a sprain was visible as Charles presided over a short special sitting of the States of Deliberation, Guernsey’s Parliament.
