Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing’s very own Claudia Winkleman is instantly recognisable with her statement heavy fringe and smouldering eyeliner look. The beloved presenter, who brings sparkle to the dancefloor alongside Tess Daly, is also a fan of a good spray tan and often opts for a subtle nude lip. Opening up to the Mirror back in 2021, Claudia shared her beauty philosophy: “When I’m orange, I feel better”. Her penchant for a tanned visage is a family affair, as she picked up the habit from her mother, the esteemed journalist and editor Eve Pollard. Claudia reminisced about her childhood, saying: “Like me, my mum loves an orange glow, so I remember her swirling huge brushes of orange over her face and thinking it was the most glamorous thing ever.”

While she’s known for her iconic fringe now, Claudia wasn’t always the queen of bangs. Throwback snaps from 2000 show a young Claudia sans fringe while presenting Holiday on a Shoestring, and even her signature heavy eyeliner is missing. Claudia’s approach to beauty is wonderfully laid-back; she’s been known to use anything at hand, from garden mud to an eyeliner pencil, to achieve that sun-kissed look and shockingly admits to committing the cardinal sin of beauty by sleeping in her makeup. She candidly confessed: “I’m useless.” She elaborated on her relaxed routine, saying: “I go to bed with my make-up on, it makes me have better dreams. Then I wake up, do the school run, have a nap, then I’ll shower and take my make-up off. With my hair, I don’t even dry it. If I’m pushing the boat out I might brush my fringe.”

Despite being one of the BBC’s top-earning women, Claudia humorously suggests that it’s her iconic fringe that secures her gigs. She’s famed for fronting BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, which she recently revealed that she nearly quit despite a pact she made with co-host Tess Daly. The 52 year old mum-of-three shows no signs of slowing down either, having also taken on hosting duties for Channel 4’s music show The Piano. The first series of the reality show aired in 2023, and Claudia previously revealed the worries she had about creating a second series of the show, as the first series was just ‘unbelievably poetic.’ She quipped: “I think it’s the only reason I get work. I’m sure TV producers go, ‘Who’s the one with the fringe? We’ll have her.’ I can’t imagine life without it. Even if it all falls out, I’ll just get a fringe wig.” The star, who shares kids Jake, Matilda, and Arthur with hubby Kris Thykier, has previously opened up about her beauty transformation. At the Cheltenham Literature Festival, she dished on why she loves her fringe, saying it acts like “armour.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
