More infoJoin us on WhatsApp Claudia Winkleman was spotted shedding tears of joy as two contestants made history on the Channel 4 gameshow One Question. The pair, father and daughter Dave and Emily, scooped up the whopping £100,000 top prize in a record-breaking six minutes during Friday’s episode. Unlike other quiz shows, One Question requires contestants to answer just one question from a pool of 16 possible answers. This didn’t faze Dave and Emily, who didn’t even need to see all the options. The ninth option for the question “Who is Smith? ” stated: “The author of the 1956 book The Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Emily immediately recognised the answer as Dodie Smith. As they announced their decision to go for it, Claudia was seen laughing incredulously, exclaiming: “I can’t cope. I don’t know why I want to cry this is ridiculous. This has never happened before in One Question history. You can absolutely say that is the answer. If you are right, I give you £100,000.” The Traitors host couldn’t bear to watch the screen during the nail-biting wait, but when the board lit up green, the studio erupted into cheers, leaving Claudia teary-eyed. “‘This has never happened before, Your brain served you well and do you know what else did? Your dad who just sat next to you and said, ‘I’ve got your back, go for it’,” an emotional Claudia praised, reports the Mirror.

Claudia then encouraged the pair to keep their quiz game strong after bagging such a hefty prize in no time at all. But Claudia wasn’t the only one fighting back tears, as Dave was overcome with emotion, expressing his joy for his daughter’s win. It’s been a whirlwind year for Claudia, who is no stranger to emotional rollercoasters on reality TV. Back in 2024, viewers were reaching for tissues when Chris McCausland was crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing, which Claudia co-hosts with Tess Daly. Earlier this year, The Traitors finale also had emotions running high, with winners Leanne and Jake sharing the whopping £94,600 prize. However, the nail-biting final saw them oust Faithfuls Alexander and Frankie, suspecting they might be the Traitors.
