More infoJoin us on WhatsApp Three years after Christine and Paddy McGuinness announced the end of their 11-year marriage, rumours are swirling that Christine is unhappy and wants to sell up and move out of the family home. The couple and their three children have been living under the same roof since they separated in June 2022, and there has been growing speculation that the arrangement is no longer making Christine happy. A court decided late last year that the pair could keep their £2.5million Cheshire house as long as they remained living there together – and our source says the decision has left former Miss Liverpool Christine feeling torn. “The whole living together, separating and living apart has been a tough journey for Christine. She’s been feeling conflicted because of the kids. She feels like she’s in a bit of a dilemma,” they claimed.

Shortly before revealing that their marriage was over, Christine, 36, and comedian Paddy, 51, shared in a deeply personal BBC documentary that their children – twins Leo and Penelope, 11, and eight-year-old Felicity – were autistic. Christine also received a diagnosis of autism shortly after, and later told new that the news had “changed her life” for the better because she’d spent most of her life “confused, wondering why everyone else seemed to be OK and I wasn’t”. Last year, the former Real Housewives Of Cheshire star also admitted she thought she’d struggle when the time came for her and Paddy to live separately, and our source says those feelings are still very much present. As a devoted mum, Christine’s priority is to make sure her children are able to cope with any major life changes, our source explained, but that could result in her risking putting her own happiness second. “As Christine has said herself, their children’s autism means they don’t generally cope well with change, and that’s why she and Paddy have stayed living together for so long, despite living separate lives,” the source claimed. “Moving out won’t be an easy transition for the children and that’s why she’s been so cautious to do it. A part of her wonders if it would just be easier to carry on as they are, but she knows that now is the time. As much as it’s tough, the kids need a happy mum too.”

Earlier this month, former Top Gear host Paddy addressed the topic of living under the same roof as his ex, saying “it doesn’t feel tricky”. He also said that if they can manage their split in a respectful way, “it is doable”. He added, “If I’m at home with the kids, it’s great. If I’m working and Christine is at home with the kids, that’s great. If we are there together, that’s fine. As long as my children are happy, that’s all that matters to me.” In a candid chat with OK! in December, Christine explained the lengths she and Paddy go to to keep their children’s lives as normal as possible and ensure their needs always come first. As well as regularly sitting down with their diaries and organising their work commitments so they clash as little as possible, she said they plan visits from friends and family to make sure things aren’t too overwhelming. At the time, Christine also said she had “no romance goals whatsoever” while her and Paddy’s children were still so young. The couple, who married in 2011 after Paddy proposed on Christmas Day a year earlier, haven’t publicly aired any dirty laundry often associated with high-profile celebrity divorces, but that hasn’t stopped rumours from circulating.

As well as speculation last year that Christine was growing close to musician DJ Roxxxan, there was also talk of a so-called “toxic divorce” after the pair reportedly engaged some heavyweight lawyers to act for them. Paddy’s lawyer, Emma Hatley, has a reputation as the “best technical family lawyer of her generation”, according to her firm, while Christine’s solicitor, Catherine Bedford, has had a string of celebrity clients, including Ant McPartlin’s ex-wife, Lisa Armstrong, and Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner. In October, it was reported that Paddy would keep the family house in the divorce, but Christine and the kids would continue to live in it, offering them stability in familiar surroundings. However, according to our source, Christine hasn’t ruled out relocating. “Moving out might be what’s best for her and, in the end, for the whole family,” they claimed. “They’ve been happy keeping things as they are, but Christine is wondering if it’s time.”
