Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland has had to seek medical advice after suffering an injury during training. The 47 year old comedian, who is blind, is set to perform an emotional waltz with his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell to the Liverpool anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone on Saturday 19 October. However, Chris revealed he’s been seen by the Strictly physio team ahead of the live show due to a sprained wrist.  In a column for The Telegraph, Chris detailed his intense training week with Aussie dancer Dianne and confessed that despite scoring 30 points for their salsa last week, he was battling a “horrible stinking cold”. Chris joked that he updated Dianne on his condition “several times an hour,” leading the 35 year old to scold him for “moaning.”

“I would simply say that I was keeping her up-to-date with what my body was telling me – and my body was moaning,” Chris cheekily responded. He admitted to feeling “particularly bunged up on Friday and Saturday,” even performing on the live show while “struggling to breathe through my nose.” He humorously added that he would have “suffocated” if he’d had to keep his mouth closed during the dance. Fans were gutted to hear that the comedy gem has joined the casualty list on Strictly Come Dancing this season, after sustaining a sprain which also led to pro dancer Dianne having a bit of a tumble during practice. Speaking about the mishap, Chris said: “As sprains go, it was a mild one and I was deemed fit to dance by the Strictly physio, but I needed to wear a wrist support.” He then added, “On the Thursday I did actually forget to put this wrist support on and ended up dropping poor Dianne in a rather unflattering heap on the floor. Sorry Dianne,” reports the Mirror. Sign up to OK!’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Now back with their eyes on the prize, Chris chatted about giving his all to the waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone, mentioning his jitters about not disappointing Liverpool supporters. Spilling his thoughts to It Takes Two’s Fleur East, he shared: “Everyone has a connection to the song so you don’t want it to be rubbish,” before jokingly adding, “If we can do something that Liverpool fans like, I have done it well. If we can do something that Everton and Manchester United fans like, we have worked a miracle!” Viewers were reaching for the tissues after Chris revealed his tender strategy to avoid breaking down on live TV. Gushing about his partner, he said: “I hug you so tight at the end so that I can make sure I’m not going to cry on telly. The relief of getting through it then for you to be so ecstatic at the end and the audience reaction to it. It’s a lot and my little lip wobbles. I gave you a hug and I held on until I knew I could speak,” adding touchingly, “the people’s support is overwhelming.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
