Privacy NoticeChloe Madeley is stirring up conversations regarding the highly debated topic of nepotism and has come out swinging against the label ‘nepo baby’, calling it a “dirty word”. The 37 year old daughter of television royalty Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan has made her mark both on and off the screen and she’s not just known for her famous lineage. Chloe’s credentials include a stint in ITV’s light-hearted At Home With the Madeleys showcasing her family’s dynamics, and appearances alongside her dad in shows like Pointless Celebrities, Small Fortune, and a host of others. Her presenting debut saw her joining the team of Big Brother’s Big Mouth back in 2008, and she wasn’t shy in stepping into the reporting shoes on her parents’ very own talk show.

Not stopping there, Chloe glided to third place on Dancing on Ice in 2011 and jumped to fifth place on The Jump in 2015. Now a personal trainer, having moved her career trajectory towards health and fitness, Chloe joined Love Island alumni Olivia Attwood on the So Wrong, It’s Right podcast. In the sit-down, Chloe delved into her feelings about being called a ‘nepo baby’ — a phrase denoting those who seemingly leverage their family ties for opportunities. She expressed her discomfort with the term, saying: “This whole nepotism, nepo baby, it’s such a dirty word, and actually, people don’t realise how hard that is to hear about yourself.” Chloe defended herself against claims of nepotism, saying it’s common for people to follow in their family’s footsteps. “Actually, it’s very common – whether your family works in law or if they work in medicine or if they work in entertainment – that you naturally follow their footsteps because that’s the world you know and that’s the world you’re kind of educated in. My parents have nothing to do with health and fitness, so you can’t say that it’s nepotistic,” reports the Mirror. Sign up to OK!’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

She acknowledged that having a built-in audience on social media due to her TV career made things easier, but also shared that her happiest times were when she was alone in her gym and the most “miserable” times of her life was when she was “in the spotlight”. Olivia Attwood chimed in, questioning why people get annoyed by nepotism, saying “People don’t choose their parents, what do you want them to do, sit at home and knit?” During the podcast, Chloe also chatted about her 2023 split from husband James Haskell, with whom she shares two year old daughter Bodhi.
