Privacy NoticeDuring a segment on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, Charlotte Hawkins had to intervene as two guests clashed in a fiery exchange. Charlotte teamed up with Adil Ray to bring viewers their daily dose of news and chatter on the popular ITV breakfast show. The discussion got particularly lively when the topic turned to whether or not people would consider drinking breast milk, following fitness icon Joe Wicks sampling his wife’s breast milk and dubbing it “liquid gold” during a trip to see Taylor Swift. Journalist and parent Ella Whelan was not on board with the idea, candidly expressing her view that consuming breast milk is “weird”.

Despite Ella’s reservations, Danielle Facey, who is the founder of Breastfeeding Mentor, defended it. Ella shared her bafflement, saying: “I just don’t get the obsession with breast milk. You just had a debate about sweat and that is natural and normal but I’m not bringing in my partner’s breast milk and making a cocktail,” reports the Express. Ella attempted to add more to her argument by saying: “I would rather see Joe film himself changing dirty nappies or washing up,” before she could finish, Danielle countered with: “You can do both, you can do both and you don’t have to choose.” As the conversation got heated, Ella interjected: “If you just let me finish.” Danielle retorted: “Comparing breast milk to sweat, come on. If sweat contained cells which are being used to treat cancerous cells then it’ll be a fair comparison but it’s not.” She added: “That’s why it’s called liquid gold.” Ella tried to get a word in, asking: “Can I get a word in? ” The situation escalated, forcing Charlotte to intervene.

One viewer vented: “There nothing else to talk about apart from a whole programme dedicated to breast milk? ! #GMB.” Another remarked: “Vile vile vile vile vileeeeeee drinking breast milk #GMB.” One queried: “Did this woman just compare sweat to breast milk? Seriously? #gmb.” Meanwhile another pointed out: “We drink cow’s breast milk, just saying most of us were breastfed as babies anyway#gmb.” Before the segment began, guest Ashley Roberts confessed that she’d sampled her friend’s breast milk.
