Privacy NoticeThe BBC Breakfast studio was filled with a frosty tension this weekend when Rachel Burden swiftly put her co-host Charlie Stayt in his place during an uncomfortable exchange. They were chatting about the recent news that rock legends Aerosmith are hanging up their touring boots after nearly 50 years, with frontman Steven Tyler blaming health woes for the decision. As their iconic tune I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing played over a video clip, Rachel shared: “Aerosmith have retired from touring after almost 50 years.” She added, “The group said their singer Steven Tyler’s voice couldn’t recover because of damaged vocal cords, and despite the best medical team, 76-year-old Tyler had made the difficult but necessary decision. 76! I had no idea he was that age.” After the VT ended, Charlie looked to Rachel and probed: “Did I hear you singing along then, Rachel? Did I hear that? I think I heard that,” reports the Express.

Rachel wasn’t having it though, brushing him off with: “Erm. Mumbling along. Yeah…” Sensing the chill, Charlie quickly shifted focus to weather presenter Sarah Keith-Lucas, asking her: “Sarah, were you singing along?” Sarah was all smiles as she responded: “I mean, there might have been a bit of gentle swaying going on there!” Charlie perked up: “Oh look at that!” while Rachel threw in a playful jab: “Get your lighter out!” The band expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their fans in a statement, saying: “It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.”

They continued to share their passion for live performances: “We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side.” However, they delivered the somber news: “Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision as a band of brothers to retire from the touring stage.” In conclusion, they added: “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
