Privacy NoticeGreat news for The Traitors fans as the BBC has officially confirmed an “unmissable” celebrity edition is in the works, after months of speculation. The news was announced at Edinburgh Fringe Festival on Thursday August 22, as the nine-part series will be dropping on BBC and iPlayer after season 3, which has already been filmed in the Scottish Highlands with host Claudia Winkelman. That’s not all, the highly successful show, saw phenomenal growth with 46m views on BBC iPlayer and an average of 8.1m views per episode, has also been commissioned for series 4, which will begin filming in 2025. The celebrity version will also begin filming in 2025, as the line-up is yet to be announced.

Speaking about the exciting news, the BBC’s head of entertainment Kalpna Patel-Knight said: “The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level. It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who’ll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!” Mike Cotton, Creative Director Unscripted at Studio Lambert and Executive Producer for The Traitors added to the excitement, describing the new spin-off as “unmissable”. “We are thrilled to be inviting some celebrities into our castle to come and play the game,” he said. “Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be unmissable TV, and what a double treat for the fans with Series 4 also confirmed too. There’s a whole lot of exciting treachery and deception yet to come from the Highlands… Claudia’s going to have to pack some extra knitwear.”

If that wasn’t enough for fans of the show to dig their teeth into, leading podcast agency Listen will be producing 12 brand new episodes of companion show The Traitors: Uncloaked, which will return alongside the third series of The Traitors. The last series saw a nail biting finale, in which Traitor Harry Clark came out victorious, managing to outsmart every single Faithful to take home the cash prize to himself. Harry took home a whopping £95,150 as he faced best friend Mollie and Jazz around the firepit. Although Jazz was suspicious of Harry’s ‘Traitor ways’ Mollie remained loyal to her best friend Harry, adamant he was a faithful which lost her the huge sum of money. Applications are now open for those who think they could outsmart the Faithfuls, or beat the Traitors.
