Privacy NoticeRadio star Scott Mills was lost for words after seizing the win in the BBC’s Celebrity Race Across The World with his husband, Sam Vaughan. The dynamic pair stormed past fellow competitors including Ted Lasso’s Kola Bokinni and relative Mary Ellen Moriarty, charging to victory at Chile’s Osorno Volcano base camp in Frutillar, after an epic 7,800-mile trek that kicked off in the verdant Amazon Rainforest. Hot on their heels the following day were TV personality Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy, as well as the dazzling Kelly Brook with hubby Jeremy Parisi, who bagged the third and fourth places accordingly. Scott and Sam’s victory moment was pure tele gold as they flipped through the guest book in Frutillar their uncontrollable joy evident as they bounced around shouting “Oh my god, we did it.” Reflecting on the win, Scott shared: “Speechless, when you open that book, and there are no other names in it there’s no other feeling like it.” He assured, “I can confirm it’s the best feeling ever.”

Scott detailed the journey, saying: “It’s been exhilarating, it’s been tough, it’s been so frustrating at times, but we’ve been there for each other, the good, the bad, the ups and downs.” Beaming with pride over the partnership with Sam, he concluded, “It just proves we’re a great team a winning team.” As the final stretch of the competition began, with only 39 minutes separating the competitors, everything was still up for grabs. In a daring move, they decided their route across the Andes to the finish line by flipping a coin, which led them through Argentina to San Salvador de Jujuy and then to Mendoza after tails won. Sam, who also works as a producer, joked: “I’m just glad we flipped the coin. To have a great experience and win, it’s just the best.” During a cable car ride up San Cristobal Hill in Chile, Scott confessed to Sam, his fiance at the time, that he had been “quite caught up with work” at the start of the show but had now “learned to spend more time for just you and me”, before admitting “I don’t want it to be over now”.

Kola and Mary Ellen, who followed Mills and Vaughan to the guest book, were thrilled to come second, reports the Mirror. Upon reaching the top of the volcano, Kola exclaimed: “We came second Mary, I’m so pleased with that, this has been one of the best experiences of my life.” Freddy, who came third alongside his father, reflected: “We didn’t come first, we didn’t need to come first.” “We finished the race and we’ve done it together, father and son, I mean what a duo. ” Kelly who secured fourth place with her husband, remarked: “It means everything to finish, Jeremy wanted to win, I just wanted to finish. To be honest we came last so I feel like we should have had a jolly from day one, it wouldn’t have made any difference.” Without the luxury of smartphones or bank cards, contestants on the unique travel challenge were left to rely solely on their smarts, hard work, and the kindness of strangers to scrape by on a tight budget. This remarkable journey put participants to the test as they traversed South America’s vast terrain, crossing into Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
