Privacy Notice A year before their shock split, Molly-Mae Hague was under the impression that Tommy Fury had cheated on her, oblivious to his own intentions for their relationship. The couple, who met in the Love Island villa in 2019 and have since welcomed a daughter, Bambi, were at a crossroads. Tommy, 25, was ready to propose to Molly-Mae in Ibiza, in July last year, but his suspicious behaviour led her to suspect he was “messaging another girl,” putting his grand proposal plans in jeopardy, as revealed in an excerpt from his new memoir. However, the surprise was already off to a shaky start, with Tommy admitting that catching Molly-Mae off guard was by no means an easy task. His plan involved inventing a lavish party hosted by fashion giant Net-a-Porter, supposedly filled with A-list celebrities.

Molly’s manager Fran played along with Tommy’s scheme, informing Molly that she and Tommy were on the guest list and expected to attend the event. The bonxer went above and beyond to make everything seem authentic, even writing a welcome note for the couple at their hotel, signing it as a representative from Net-a-Porter. Tommy then proceeded with his plan, and the couple prepared to leave their hotel, a car arrived to collect them, with the driver also in on the ruse, reports the Mirror. Unfortunately, their romantic moment almost took a nosedive when Molly asked to see the pictures they had taken earlier on his phone. Recalling the moment in an extract of his new memoir Tommy wrote: “I made a lame excuse about being in the middle of a texting debate with my dad about a fight contract.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Thinking the worst, the former Pretty Little Thing Creative Director feared he was texting another girl. As she questioned him, Tommy recalled: “She thought I might be messaging another girl. I was fuming. I couldn’t believe she would think that, but I also reminded myself that I was acting shifty, so it was fair enough. Ten minutes before I was due to propose, we were in the middle of this blazing row.” Despite the argument, the driver continued with the plan, and the pair wound up on a cliff top at the back of their hotel, where Tommy popped the question, joined by their daughter Bambi. However, moments before, the athlete jumped out of the car and shut the door on Molly, making her tearfully think he’d left her right before he proposed. It comes months after the former Love Island couple announced their split. At the time, rumours were spreading that Tommy had been unfaithful, however he has once again shut these down, breaking his silence in his first interview since the split. “All the allegations that were made of me recently are completely false. The truth will come out in time and when it does, I think a lot of people might regret their actions and unkind words. The whole world will I reckon,” he told Mail Online.
