Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans’ life took quite a turn eight years back when he split from his wife Tanwen, ending their 16-year marriage before he had to leave the family home. Post-divorce, the much-loved BBC Radio Wales host made a tentative offer on a rundown property in Cardiff that was, in his own words, “terrible” at the time of purchase. Speaking to Rich Leigh on The Starting Line podcast, Wynne shared his emotions: “It was a really sad house, because it was derelict, and I moved here after a divorce. I didn’t want to move here, I wanted to stay married.” He lamented over how his new place echoed with sorrow: “So I bought it and it just became sad. It was a sad place.” When the singer moved in, everything went wrong, from the central heating breaking, to having to rely on tents as makeshift bedrooms for his children. Wynne prioritised his children’s needs over his own, revealing: “I got the kids’ bedrooms ready first and I had to get new heating put in. “And I was living in a bedroom, bearing in mind I’m presenting every day on Radio Wales, I was doing GoCompare, I was doing all these things and people thought I was successful but I was living in a bedroom with no windows, with no glass in them.”

He has since completely renovated the property and added his own unique stamp; with pop art in his bedroom, and bright colours featured in the decor. Elsewhere, Wynne, who’s teamed up with pro dancer Katya Jones on Strictly, found himself facing difficulties again this weekend due to some seemingly awkward interactions with the star. The opera singer’s hand casually landed around his dance partner’s waist, a move which she appeared to brush off. Another snippet saw Evans reaching for a high-five, only to be left hanging. Taking to social media, Wynne clarified the situation: “We were just messing around. We really are amazing friends.”

The dancer also backed up her partner, explaining: “Now, I need to make something crystal clear. The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was an inside – a very, silly, very silly – inside joke between Wynne and I.” She went on to squash any brewing controversy by adding, “So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended me in any way is complete nonsense.” Laughing off the situation, she remarked: “It’s quite absurd actually. Now, can we just focus on how brilliantly he’s doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming?” There’s been a wellness check-up from the BBC welfare team with the duo, but insiders have indicated that things will likely proceed without any further fuss. Wynne and Katya secured their spot for the next week on Strictly Come Dancing after performing a tango to Abba’s Money, Money, Money during Saturday night’s show, bagging 34 points.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
