Privacy NoticeThe Strictly Come Dancing phenomenon has once again captured the hearts of viewers nationwide, dazzling us with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s show-stopping fashion parade. Beyond her dance floor duties, Tess juggles motherhood with her two girls, Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14. With Vernon Kay for a dad, it’s no surprise the spotlight seems second nature to this family; he’s constantly in the public ear with his Radio 2 appearances. The Daly-Kay family prefer to keep their home life under wraps, but occasionally they’ll treat followers to glimpses of their personal joys on Instagram. Their eldest daughter Phoebe is fast becoming Tess’ mini-me and when these two step out, you’d be forgiven for mistaking them as sisters. In a snap earlier this year, Tess and Vernon posed alongside Phoebe in a rare glam snap and the girls are almost identical, reports the Mirror.

While they donned different colour dresses for the occasion, they both rocked trendy short mini dresses while their platinum blond locks were styled down in a middle parting. Phoebe wrapped her arms around her star-studded parents as they beamed at the camera showing off their similarities. In an intriguing turn, Vernon has let slip some secrets about his union with Tess, hinting that she’s less than impressed with his lavish annual expenditure on Bonfire Night festivities. Despite being happily married for over two decades, Tess and Vernon still have disagreements, especially when it comes to spending. Vernon even humorously suggested that Tess “would rather lock him up” during their extravagant Bonfire Night celebrations. In a 2023 episode of the Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Vernon gave listeners an insight into the Kay household’s Bonfire Night festivities. Vernon, who enjoys hosting events, said: “Kind of, I like things like Bonfire Night, because Bonfire Night is usually chippy night, and I like fireworks – I like explosions!” He then confessed: “So, Bonfire Night, for me… I think Tess would rather lock me up, because I spent a fortune – I always do on Bonfire Night! We get a load of fish and chips in.”

Discussing his laid-back approach to dinner parties, Vernon revealed he prefers a “buffet-style fish and chips” atmosphere. He explained: “We have buffet-style fish and chips, we get a load of fish and chips in and put them on the hot plate, we have a warming Lazy Susan, so it spins and warms! It’s perfect, absolutely brilliant.” Vernon revealed his love for simple, hearty nosh over fancy cuisine when it comes to throwing a bash, especially when fireworks are involved. He said: “I like entertaining with no fuss, because as soon as you get into posh food…”, prompting Angela to jump in with, “You have to think about it too much, it’s an effort”.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
