Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing favourite Ore Oduba and his wife Portia have called it quits after nine years together. The much-loved BBC show’s 2016 champion, Ore, aged 38, shared the sad news with fans on social media this week, confirming their split. Taking to his platforms, Ore penned: “Hi guys. Portia and I are said to announce that we separated earlier this year.” He continued to express gratitude for the support they’ve received, adding: “We’re so grateful for all the love you’ve shared with us both over the years.” The couple, who have always been private about their personal life, asked for continued respect during this time: “And we want to thank you in advance for respecting our privacy as we navigated this difficult transition. We will be making no further comment. Be kind, always.”

Ore and Portia’s romance blossomed after meeting at Loughborough University back in 2010, leading to a fairy-tale proposal in 2014. They married in a beautiful wedding at Penshurst Place in Kent in 2015, reports the Mirror. Reflecting on his emotions during the big day, Ore once told The Mirror: “On my wedding day I cried from 11 in the morning until 2am that night. There’s a picture of me wailing, my best men there laughing and Portia absolutely cracking up next to me – I am the only one crying.” The couple welcomed their son Roman in 2018 and spoke about it on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast. Ore admitted he wished he could’ve given birth to Roman for Portia but said that he wouldn’t have the “strength” to do it. Ore also added that he was “blown away” during the birth by Portia and her “super human abilities”. In 2021, the pair celebrated the arrival of their daughter Genie in 2021 – an announcement that came as a surprise to fans.

Ore and Portia previously enjoyed posting clips of their family live and last summer, the family ended up stuck in Greece due to the air traffic control issues. Portia shared a candid snapshot of her family’s travel woes on Instagram, as they were caught up in the massive network-wide outage on bank holiday Monday that led to over 1,200 flight cancellations. Stranded in Greece with her two children, Roman and Genie, she posted a picture of them looking at the stationary easyJet planes, lamenting their lack of essentials: “So currently ‘stranded’ in Greece with no flight home. No nappies and no clean knickers. @easyjet have cancelled all flights leaving till Sunday. But it’s ok. They’ve offered us a voucher for the next time we fly. Maybe we can fly home on that, magic carpet style.” She added, “I better sharpen up on my Greek as at this rate we are going to become citizens.” The situation seemed dire the day before when Portia informed her followers that they were down to their “last three nappies” while trying to secure an alternative route home: “The next available flight from where we’re staying back to London Gatwick isn’t until Sunday I believe so we’re trying to find an alternative flight, potentially trying to get to another island and fly with a different airline who’s flights are all still leaving.”
