Privacy NoticeSimon Cowell has admitted that he was “quite nervous” when he walked former The X Factor star Lucy Spraggan down the aisle. The 32 year old musician tied the knot with her partner, wedding photographer Emilia Smith, earlier this month after announcing their engagement in March. After walking Lucy down the aisle, the TV personality behind The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent has opened up about the “emotional” and “nervous” experience. Speaking to Hello magazine, Simon shared: “I was very honoured to be asked to walk Lucy down the aisle. I considered it a very big deal. As soon as she asked me, I said ‘yes’.

He continued: “On the day I was actually quite nervous because I’ve never been asked before. And then very proud and happy and emotional. “The best way of describing our relationship is that it feels like we’ve been friends for life. Being asked to walk her down the aisle made me realise the significance and importance of that role. And throughout the day, I was thinking even though it’s been a relatively short time, we do feel like family, and we share a very special bond.” Lucy looked stunning in a white three-piece suit at the ceremony, and in snaps from the big day, she’s seen wiping away a tear while holding onto Simon’s arm.

Lucy and Emilia were friends before ‘falling in love’
It was an emotional day for Lucy as she said she was “already crying” before walking down the aisle as her song was played. The bride added that Simon “definitely had a tear in his eye” and when her future wife walked in with her dad she “just sobbed.” Lucy lovingly wrote her song Other Sides of The Moon, especially for Emilia and released the track on the date of their wedding day on 14 June. Taking to Instagram to share news of the new song, Lucy explained the meaning behind the song and said: “It’s only right this song comes out on our wedding day…” She continued: “The day we are tying the knot after more than a decade of friendship. Friend of a friend to a friend to each other.”

“I played this song on tour and explained the story of how @emiliakate__ and I ended up together; how one day I got butterflies out of nowhere when she texted me, the same day she had a dream about me that changed the way she felt (not a dream like that, don’t be rude). “I wrote Other Sides Of The Moon because now we are together it feels like we were both always looking at the same moon, just from different sides of it. Now we are on the same side, and I finally realise what healthy love is supposed to feel like. I feel so lucky every day.” She ended the heartwarming post by adding: “Other Sides Of The Moon, the song for my girl with the sparkly hands.” Those attending Glastonbury can catch Lucy Spraggan at the Avalon Stage on June 29.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
